What is Chandra Bala?
Chandra Bala is the strength of the transiting Moon measured from your natal (janma) Moon sign. On a personally auspicious day, the Moon sits in a supportive position — the 1st, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 10th or 11th — from your birth Moon. A date with weak Chandra Bala is traditionally softened with a simple remedy or chosen only when unavoidable.
What is Tara Bala?
Tara Bala is the strength of the day’s nakshatra counted from your birth nakshatra, grouped into nine taras. The favourable ones are Sampat (2nd), Kshema (4th), Sadhaka (6th), Mitra (8th) and Parama-Mitra (9th). We list a date as personally shubh only when both Chandra Bala and Tara Bala are supportive.
How the personalised list is built
We start from the generally auspicious muhurat dates for your activity — those that already clear the classical panchang gates — then keep only the ones where your Chandra Bala and Tara Bala are both favourable. Your birth details are used only for this calculation and are not stored. For the exact lagna and time on a chosen date, confirm with an astrologer.
A worked example
Suppose your birth Moon is in Vrishchika (Scorpio). A generally auspicious wedding date in February has the transiting Moon in Kumbha (Aquarius) — that is the 4th sign from your Moon, a favourable Chandra Bala position, so the day passes. Another February date has the Moon in Tula (Libra), the 12th from your Moon — weak Chandra Bala — so it is dropped unless no better option exists. We run this check for every candidate date and show only the ones where both Chandra Bala and Tara Bala agree, which is why your personalised list is usually shorter than the general one.
If no date suits your chart
When a year offers no personally favourable date, there are three classical routes: widen the search across the next year or two; use an Abujh muhurat (Akshaya Tritiya, Vasant Panchami and the like) which needs no personal check; or soften a weak Chandra Bala with a remedy — worship of the Moon, a Monday fast, or wearing a pearl after an astrologer’s assessment. An astrologer can also fix the exact lagna and the muhurat time on the chosen day, which this tool does not compute.
