The third window is the one worth planning around, because it does not happen alone. Venus is already retrograde from 3 October to 13 November in sidereal Libra, so from 24 October to 13 November both Mercury and Venus are retrograde in the same sign at the same time.
That is unusual enough to be worth stating plainly, and it is also worth not overstating. Two planets appearing to move backward does not double anything. What the tradition reads into it is thematic: Mercury governs communication, contracts, travel and the fine print, while Venus governs relationships, money, beauty and agreements. The practical advice attached to Mercury retrograde is mostly good practice at any time of year, which is part of why it works.
It is worth being clear about the limits. A retrograde is an optical effect, not a force: Mercury does not slow down, and nothing is transmitted from it. No serious Jyotish tradition holds that a retrograde planet causes device failures or cancelled flights.
What the tradition does hold is that the period favours the prefix re- — review, revise, repair, reconsider, reconnect — and that timing important beginnings away from it is a matter of prudence rather than fear. A retrograde is not a reason to postpone your life for three weeks, and anyone telling you it is has something to sell.

Saturn's retrograde is the long one — more than four months — and it ends on 10 December, with Saturn resuming direct motion on 11 December.
Check today's date against the table above. As of the last window of 2026, Mercury is retrograde from 24 October to 13 November and moves forward again on 14 November (IST). Outside those dates it is direct.
This is the most common follow-up question, and it deserves an honest answer rather than a confident one. Published times differ between sources — you will see 29 June and 30 June for the same retrograde, or 23 July and 24 July for the same station.
There are two reasons. First, the station is not an event with a clean instant the way a sunrise is; the planet slows, appears to stand still for a stretch, and then turns, so where you place the boundary is a convention. Second, sources publish in different time zones, and a station late at night in one zone falls on the next calendar day in another.
