Next marriage muhurat:

Friday, 15 January 2027 (Revati) · in 69 days

Our list leaves out Tuesdays and Pratipada, which some panchangs allow, and it can include dates DrikPanchang leaves out (for example 30 Nov 2026), so it can both miss and add dates. Confirm the exact window with your family priest. Why our dates differ →

Each date below has a nakshatra suited to a wedding (at sunrise, or one the Moon enters later that day) and an allowed tithi at sunrise, and none falls on a Tuesday. The list skips Adhika Maas, Chaturmas and Kharmas, and the weeks when Jupiter or Venus is combust. For your own birth chart, personalise below.

Which of these dates suit your chart?

We narrow the list to dates with strong Chandra Bala and a supportive Tara from your natal Moon. Your birth details are used only for this calculation and are not stored.

How a marriage date is chosen

Every date in the list above had to clear four independent gates before it appeared. A day is listed only when all four pass, which is why some months carry a dozen dates and others carry none at all. The gates are the nakshatra the Moon occupies, the tithi (lunar day), the weekday, and whether the date falls inside a season when tradition pauses a wedding altogether.

Which nakshatras qualify

The Moon passes through 27 nakshatras in a lunar month, and classical muhurta texts treat only some of them as suited to a wedding. The list above accepts these 11:

Rohini · Mrigashira · Magha · Uttara Phalguni · Hasta · Swati · Anuradha · Mula · Uttara Ashadha · Uttara Bhadrapada · Revati

A date qualifies if a listed nakshatra is present at any point during that day — not only at sunrise. The Moon changes nakshatra roughly once a day, rarely at a convenient hour, so the nakshatra shown against each date is the one that actually satisfied the rule, which is sometimes the one the Moon moves into later that day rather than the one it woke up in.

Which tithis are left out

Three groups of lunar days are excluded regardless of how good the nakshatra is. The Rikta tithis — Chaturthi, Navami and Chaturdashi in each paksha — are traditionally read as "empty" and kept for maintenance rather than beginnings. Amavasya, the new moon, is left out. So is Pratipada, the first day of each paksha. The tithi that counts is the one prevailing at sunrise.

Weekdays that are avoided

Tuesday is set aside for a wedding. Tuesday belongs to Mangal (Mars), read as sharp and hurried — the opposite of what a settling ceremony wants.

The months with no dates at all

When a month shows zero dates it is almost never because the nakshatras failed. It is because the whole month sits inside one of these windows:

  • Chaturmas — the four months from Devshayani Ekadashi to Prabodhini Ekadashi, usually July to November. Auspicious sanskaras pause for the whole stretch, which is why the wedding and housewarming season resumes with Dev Uthani Ekadashi.
  • Kharmas (Malmas) — the roughly thirty days when the Sun occupies Sagittarius (mid-December to mid-January), and again Pisces (mid-March to mid-April).
  • Adhika Maas — the intercalary lunar month added roughly every three years to keep the lunar and solar calendars together. No auspicious beginnings are scheduled in it.
  • Tara Asta — the weeks when Jupiter or Venus is combust, too close to the Sun to be seen at dawn or dusk. Weddings are not fixed while either is set, and this alone can empty a month that otherwise looks open.

Why your own chart shortens the list

Everything above is computed for the panchang alone, which is why it is the same list for everyone. A traditional astrologer then narrows it against the individual: Chandra Bala asks where the transiting Moon sits relative to your natal Moon, and Tara Bala counts the nakshatra from your birth star to check it falls in a supportive group. The personalise form above the list applies both, keeping only the dates where both pass, so the list usually gets noticeably shorter.

If no date fits when you need it

This is the ordinary case, not the exception — possession dates, notice periods and family availability rarely land inside Chaturmas-free months with a listed nakshatra. Tradition has an answer for it: the Abujh muhurats, a handful of days considered so auspicious that they need no calculation at all. Akshaya Tritiya, Vasant Panchami, Bhadli Navami, Dev Uthani Ekadashi and Phulera Dooj are the best known, and work is begun on them freely even in months that are otherwise closed.

You can see which of those fall this year on the muhurat overview, alongside the other activities.

Reading this against a printed panchang

We exclude Tuesdays and Pratipada for a wedding, while DrikPanchang and several other panchangs allow them, so their lists can include dates ours omit: DrikPanchang lists 24 and 25 November 2026, and our list does not. The reverse also happens: our marriage list can include dates DrikPanchang leaves out, for example 30 November 2026.

A listed date means a qualifying nakshatra and tithi occur that day, not necessarily all day. This page does not compute a time window, so confirm the exact window with your family priest.

Two more caveats. These dates are computed for New Delhi, and sunrise shifts the nakshatra and tithi boundaries by up to an hour or so across India — a date on the edge of a transition can differ for Chennai or Guwahati. And the exclusion windows above follow the Purnimanta reckoning and the DrikPanchang convention; some regional and family traditions keep a different list, particularly for Rikta tithis and for Magha. Where your family priest differs from this page, follow the priest.

A muhurat is a traditional way of choosing when to begin something. It is a classification from the panchang, not a forecast — no date on this page is claimed to cause an outcome, and nothing here needs to be bought.

Frequently asked questions

How many auspicious marriage muhurat dates are there in 2027?

There are 69 auspicious marriage muhurat dates in 2027, computed from the classical panchang for New Delhi. May has the most, with 12.

Which months have no marriage muhurat in 2027?

There are no auspicious marriage dates in August, September, October. A month usually comes out empty when it falls inside a window this list skips: Chaturmas, Kharmas, Adhika Maas or Jupiter or Venus combust.

What if no marriage muhurat date suits when I need it?

This is the common case rather than the exception. Tradition allows the Abujh muhurats — days considered auspicious without any calculation, such as Akshaya Tritiya, Vasant Panchami, Bhadli Navami, Dev Uthani Ekadashi and Phulera Dooj — on which work is begun freely even in otherwise closed months.

Why does this list differ from my family panchang?

Three ordinary reasons. These dates are computed for New Delhi, and sunrise moves the nakshatra and tithi boundaries by up to about an hour across India. And regional traditions keep slightly different allow-lists, particularly for the Rikta tithis. Where your family priest differs, follow the priest.

Does the nakshatra shown have to last the whole day?

No. A listed date means a qualifying nakshatra and tithi occur that day, not necessarily all day. The nakshatra listed against each date is the one that actually satisfied the rule — sometimes the one the Moon enters later that day rather than the one at sunrise. Confirm the exact window with your family priest.
