Name Compatibility Calculator

Enter two names to see their numerology Expression numbers and a compatibility score based on classical Pythagorean numerology. This is a traditional system for reflection and exploration — not a prediction of any relationship.

You can use first names, full names, or nicknames — whichever feels most true to the person. Nothing is stored.

How name numerology compatibility works

Each name is mapped to an Expression (Destiny) number by assigning each letter a value 1–9 (A=1, B=2 … I=9, repeating), summing all the letter values, then reducing to a single digit — unless the sum passes through 11 or 22, which are preserved as master numbers in the Pythagorean tradition. Two names are then compared using classical compatibility relationships: numbers of the same vibration share natural resonance; certain complementary pairs (like 1 & 9 or 2 & 6) are considered harmonious; others are seen as growth-oriented pairings that build strength through difference. The score reflects these traditional relationships, not a statistical model of real relationships.

Frequently asked questions

What is name numerology compatibility?
Name numerology assigns a number to each name by mapping every letter to a digit (A=1, B=2 … I=9, then the cycle repeats), summing the values, and reducing to a single digit. This is called the Expression or Destiny number. Two names are compared by examining how their numbers relate in classical numerology tradition — certain pairs are considered harmonious, others growth-oriented.
Which name should I use — first name, full name or nickname?
Traditional Western numerology uses the full birth name for the Expression number. In practice, many people find that the name they use day-to-day carries its own energy. Try both — first names for casual connections, full names for a deeper reading. There is no single right answer, and the tool works with any name you enter.
Is a low score a bad sign?
No. A lower score means the two numbers have a growth-oriented relationship in the numerological tradition — different energies can complement each other when both people are self-aware. Name numerology reflects tendencies associated with letter values, not a prediction of relationship success or failure.
Does this predict whether a relationship will work?
Name numerology is a traditional system used for entertainment and self-reflection. It does not predict your relationship. Whether a relationship works depends on communication, values, effort and mutual respect — things no number system can measure. Use this as a conversation starter, not a verdict.
What is the Pythagorean system used here?
The Pythagorean system assigns A=1, B=2, C=3 … I=9, then J=1, K=2 … R=9, S=1 … Z=8. Every letter maps to a digit by its position in the alphabet modulo 9. This is the most widely used Western numerology system. The Chaldean and Cheiro systems use different mappings — they would produce different numbers for the same name.
